interesting. It reminds me of back in 1993 (when dinosaurs roamed the earth). The NATION magazine had a column that listed about 50 things the new DP president of the time (whatizname?) could do quickly and in many cases without Congressional okay to promote a "progressive" agenda. Naturally enough, he didn't follow the NATION's advice. But the Bushwhackers did something very much like that, using absolutely every expedient to push their program (including the use of signing statements). I wonder: will Obama push for his program the way Clinton did? or the way Bushie did? And what is his program? I couldn't tell from his inaugural speech (which seemed reminiscent of Clinton's 1992 speech at the DP convention). -- Jim Devine / "Segui il tuo corso, e lascia dir le genti." (Go your own way and let people talk.) -- Karl, paraphrasing Dante. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
