You have spent decades trying to burnish your reputation as a serious
Marxist, or at least post-Keynesian, scholar, as well as contributing to
the left-populist Counterpunch website.
You must realize that your letter to the Nation Magazine has effectively
flushed that reputation down the toilet. You write:
"I agree entirely that the Israeli occupation is brutal. But Hamas is
also brutal. To date, the only thing preventing Hamas from being less
lethal than Israel in the damage it inflicts is its limited resources.
Hamas is deliberately firing rockets into Israel with the aim of killing
and terrorizing civilians. Should Iran, for example, succeed in
supplying Hamas with more effective weapons, Hamas will become more
successful in killing and terrorizing Israeli citizens. Rockets are
beginning to land only twenty miles south of Tel Aviv."
This can only be described as the left buttock's cheek of AIPAC.
I should add that in an attempt to track down your email address, I
discovered that you contributed nearly $18,000 to the Obama campaign.
Did you wrest a promise from him to keep mum over the slaughter of
Palestinians in exchange for your contribution or did he keep quiet
because he shares your pro-Israel bias?
