Its a sort of unexamined libertarian position, perhaps. It's "obvious"
that gay people deserve something that others get without special
qualification, but not so obvious that workers deserve a lot better
(because unlike the workers, managers and bosses do have special
qualifications, often from the same colleges that the techies came
from, and nothing prevents the worker from gaining such qualification).
