in today's NY TIMES, there's a Reuters item that says that Hugo "Chávez has previously nationalized major parts of the economy, including significant elements of the oil, telecommunications and energy industries." Did he really nationalize oil? I thought that it was already owned by the Venezuelan government and his government subordinated it to the democratically-elected politicians. Also, isn't it the Venezuelan government that nationalizes companies, not Chávez?
Meanwhile, the library sent me a CHOICE card (to decide whether to buy a book or not) about a 2008 book by Paul Sweeny _Ireland's Economic Success: Reasons and Lessons_. (Go your own way and let people talk.) -- Karl, paraphrasing Dante. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
