Popular indignation is easily mollified with a symbolic victory.

That aside, you really think the 2008 AIG bonuses is really an issue
worth fighting over? Now, if we are talking about clawing back bonuses
from all Wall St firms getting bailed out, say from 2005 onwards, that
would be a different story and definitely worth fighting for. But
this?
