I have learned that the Iraqi/Turkish economist Salih Neftci, who graduated from the University of Minnessota and taught econometrics, macroeconomics, and financial engineering at the CUNY Grad Center, the New School, and some European schools, passed away. He was hospitalized in Switzerland.
He didn't identify himself as a "progressive economist" or the like. I'm posting the note here, because I once mentioned him here -- and/or on my blog -- and some people on PEN-L apparently knew him (Sabri, I think). For those who didn't know him, Salih was an excellent lecturer. I took all his classes at the CUNY Grad Center and the New School. And, full disclosure, he wrote great letters of recommendation on my behalf -- for which I'll remain ever grateful to his memory. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
