I'd say that most US newspapers have been suffering from pretty much the same kind of conservatism as the NYT. The key problem is that while they get revenues every time they print a newspaper on paper and sell it, they tend to be blind when it comes to figuring how to profit from the web. The NYT's extra blindness may arise from the fact that Sulzberger sees his newspaper as better than all the rest, as "the newspaper of [capitalist] record."
