In my own experience, the very worst case of water commercialization anywhere on earth is Highland Park, Detroit. There, once water's disconnected due to nonpayment and the victims - often single head of household mothers - join the Welfare Rights Union to organise for water rights, the city then uses the most wicked tactic you can imagine: the child welfare department comes to the homes of these women to confiscate their kids - on grounds that the mother is unfit to raise them, because she has no water supply.
