At a guess, the coup leaders don't intend the upcoming election to be
honest, and don't want a credible to voice in the presidency to try
and make it honest, and to call it out authoritatively if it is not.
Incidentally, the coup leaders don't seem under a lot pressure to me.
The U.S. could put economic pressure on them that would return Zelaya
tomorrow if it wanted to.
