Pertinent to European politics today, German, Italian, French, Dutch,
et al., can't we say that the rightward swing there in the last few
years is related to the world-historic "comupence" of capitalist
colonialism and imperialism: large numbers of non-Europeans of the
darker peoples emigrating to the European metropoles of their
colonialist master nations ?  Even the French can't help lurching to
the right. Fascists are no longer "unacceptable" in Italy.

We needed reminding of that. But all imperialists are invariably racists,
though not all are fascist. It's possible in this case, too, the savage
assault on a people of colour was was a consequence of the regime's
imperialist pretensions , rather than a cause of it, as was the planned
genocide of the Nazis against the Jews.
