Both OASI and employer pensions were also a victory of the working
class -- at the same time that they largely ended the role of trade
union-created pension funds, what had been a source of union strength.
As MP notes, their establishment helped end or at least moderate overt
class antagonism. The employer pension funds (and later
defined-contribution plans) also involved union leaders as overseers,
putting them deeper in the social networks dominated by capitalists.
Guess who won any conflict of tugs on those leaders' hearts?

Of course, you should hear the SEIU members I know talk about Andy
Stern. He runs the SEIU like a corporation, including its expansion
plans.
