DEVELOPMENT STUDIES
• Lecturing in Development Studies at undergraduate and postgraduate
levels in a multimodal learning context
• Supervising Honours, Master’s and Doctoral students in Development
Studies
• Engaging in Development Studies-related research and publications
• Administrative duties and community engagement
Requirements:
• A Phd in Development Studies or a related field
• Published research (accredited national/international publications)
• At least five years of teaching experience in a higher education
institution (at under- and postgraduate levels), and experience in
course development and postgraduate supervision
Recommendations:
• A research focus on southern and/or sub-Saharan Africa
• Political economy or quantitative teaching experience
• Track record of research funding
• NRF rating
• A critical, multidisciplinary approach to Development Studies with a
commitment to social justice
