To start with, I must admit I have my own intellectual problems with the "global warming" movement, but I agree with its goals of conservation etc, and am vehemently opposed to the ideological goals of most deniers. That said, I never liked Freakonomics or its authors both of which I found unbearably pretentious. In this latest book, it looks like Levitt is getting "scientific input" from creeps like Nathan Myhrvold, who appears to be basically pimping some of the so-called products of his patent-troll company Intellectual Ventures. For more on Myhrvold, see: http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20080511/1529011081.shtml -raghu. -- Puritanism: The haunting fear that someone, somewhere may be happy. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
