There are two possible explanations for a twit like Greenspan. 1) He is clever like a fox. He may say incomprehensibly stupid things, but his ideas are really quite rational if you consider their class interests. 2) He really is just an idiot. This is what I think. Greenspan (and Bernanke and Geithner et al) are supporting ideas that would make sense if they truly part of the ruling elite e.g. if they were billionaires. But these guys are not.
