What will be in the “abandoned” areas ? Will they be left to the
“vandals and vagrants” mentioned in the Detroit News article ?
Revisit Marie Farrell Donaldson’s similar proposal and the responses
to it. The report should be in the Ombudsmen’s office.

Won’t the abandoned areas be danger areas for the same sort of crime
as in abandoned buildings, rape in the first place ?

The whole plan fails to deal with the fundamental problem which is not
abandoned land or property, but people who have been “abandoned” from
work and income. Abandoned buildings or vacant tracts of land don’t
do anything to anybody. It is people who either themselves are in
poverty, joblessness, illness, hunger, homelessness and/or committing
crimes against other people. The unemployment rate in the Great
Depression was 24%. Detroit’s is now 45-50% according to Mayor Bing.
This calls for New Deal type solutions. Detroit needs a New Deal !

Eminent Domain requires just compensation to the owners from whom the
land will be taken ? The City does not have the money now compensate.

How will the plan save money for the City ?

Has any other city done anything similar ?

(Max: planned shrinkage)

Who owns the land targeted ? Will foreclosers and big banks profit ?
Will they try to raise the prices and land values to make a killing ?
(Duh)

What is the real plan ? Dismemberment and reduction in the total
territory of the City of Detroit ?

Michigan Citizen article is mentioned in the Detroit News article (!)

The Urban Village plan mentioned in Detroit News article seems to have
dome promise. It could be linked to urban food production movement

All Power to the Soviets/Workers' Councils ..uh..People !
