Compared to Hedges' grasp of Darwin and his significance, this approaches
sheer brilliance. (In his abysmal _I Don't Believe in Atheists,_ Hedges
would bring up atheist claims related to biological evolution, then refute
them with, "But Darwin never said this" - as if modern evolutionary
biologists read Darwin the way fundamentalist Christians read the Synoptic
Gospels. It was tremendously painful to read, and I didn't come close to
finishing it.)
