The website claims to be "neutral" on proposed solutions. The advisory board includes such folks as Larry Mishel, Economic Policy Institute; and Barbara Kennelly, National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. This seems like a great venue to raise the demand for a massive cut in the base military budget, in addition to ending the wars. Regarding the former, the following document may be useful: Debt, Deficits, and Defense: A Way Forward. Report of the Sustainable Defense Task Force. 11 June 2010. The Task Force illustrates how the Pentagon can contribute signifcantly to deficit reduction while advancing national security goals. The report presents options for reducing DoD’s budget -- in sum saving nearly $1 trillion over the next decade. http://www.comw.org/pda/ http://www.comw.org/pda/fulltext/1006SDTFreport.pdf On Tue, Jun 15, 2010 at 10:36 PM, Marty Hart-Landsberg <[email protected]> wrote: > I wondered if anyone on the list has had direct experience with the town > halls being organized under the rubric of America Speaks: Our Budget, Our > Economy (http://usabudgetdiscussion.org/).
