The reality is that there can be no “good” American president. It’s an impossible hand to play. Obama is close to being finished. The nation’s first black president promised change at the precise moment when no single man, even if endowed with the communicative powers of Franklin Roosevelt, the politic mastery of Lyndon Johnson, the brazen agility of Bill Clinton, could turn the tide that has been carrying America to disaster for 30 years.<< Comment I voted for Obama to win President and by doing such was part of a contingent of voting America that shattered the color line in America’s highest political institution 40 years into a desegregated society. Voting for Obama felt good and was the right thing to do - for me. I shall never forget his inaugural dance with Beoncye singing Etta James “ At Last.” At last my love has come along my lonely days over and life is like a song Ooh, yeah, yeah At last the skies above are blue My heart was wrapped up in clover the night I looked at you I found a dream that I could speak to A dream that I can call my own I found a thrill to press my cheek to A thrill that I have never known Ohh, yeah, yeah
Without question I prefer the Temptations rendition of “At Last” on their “For Lovers Only" album but that is besides the point. My heady moment of euphoria ended with Obama’s last inaugural dance. Yet, more history was made . . . again. There is a story about this process of the black politician being integrated into the political fabric of our political system as completion of our second revolutionary war - 1865, but now is not the time for this commentary. You get it or you don’t. Or you understand it as you understand it. This of course means I understand it as I understand it. Who one votes for is not the issue. The politics of “a nigga ain’t shit” should not blind one to political maneuver and how the most backwards aspects of our history is used against us. . Much has changed in the thinking of the American peoples, or much change has become manifest since Obama’s election. Capitalism as bourgeois property relations is under its most severe criticism in 70 years. Obama should have been impeached for his handling of the BP oil spill or rather breach of the earth’s integrity and the spewing of millions of gallons of oil into earth waters. Why are these corporate thugs and criminals not in jail? These people are criminals. Why was not the army corps of engineers not called into action moments after the “oil spill” occurred? I want these corporate criminals in fucking jail. It’s one things to work the crap out of me for 40 years and send someone in a family I personally know to jail or to send to jail someone who knows someone I know on some stupid infringement of the law. This is after all America and every nigga in America understand the American criminal justice system and the sharp edge of the fascist current. How can a company be responsible for millions of gallons of oil being released into the earth’s water and not one mutherfucker do time? Someone needs to be in jail for the “oil thing in the water” and since the Obama administration lack the moral fortitude to invade - yes invade the old British empire, only to the extent to bring criminals to justice. Obama should be impeached and sent to jail on behalf of his capitalist masters because he did not go get them. I am not talking about what the oil breach means for CO2 emissions unto the earth, the build up of methane gases and the impact on the Mississippi coast and industry. This kind of stuff is best left to those who now, the scientists and people who know what they are talking about. I’m saying, we beat the Brits once and can take them again. Put these fucks in jail. No one can suggest putting me or anyone I know in jail for the oil spill because we were not in the area at the time and can prove we were in Detroit. Yes, we have witnesses and won on the ground floor the right to a jury of our peers. No one can blame this one on me or someone I know. WL.
