Clay Bennett of the Chattanooga Times Free Press has a cute editorial
cartoon at http://www.gocomics.com/claybennett/2010/09/24/

The US electorate is represented by Nell, from the Dudley Do-Right
cartoons. The greedy Republican (represented by Snidely Whiplash) will
tie her to the railroad track and abuse her in many ways while the
incompetent Democrat (represented by Dudley Do-Right) promises to
save her but she has to do all the work and thinking. (Meanwhile,
she's secretly in love with Dudley's horse.) Though very clever, this
makes the Dems look better than they are, since they really just
represent a different wing of the capitalist class than the GOPsters
and only have "good intentions" when pressured by non-capitalist
groups.
