Actually, the DLC's choice was Hillary and Obama beat her in the primaries by
running as an outsider promising change, which was also the dominant theme of
his presidential campaign despite his more subtle references to being a
conservative Democrat at heart, but no matter. His record in office has since
dispelled any ambiguity about his political leanings.

So it must be asked why, understanding this, you would stubbornly support the
"Clintonoid" Obama against the growing legion of his liberal critics inside the
Democratic party? You'd expect a self-described Marxist like yourself would be
welcoming their criticisms and any effort to meld them into an effective
opposition, recognizing that a serious US third party to the left of the
Democrats is not now remotely on the agenda, nor is likely to be without a
prior faction fight inside the DP.

I'll answer my own question: You're alarmed by the rise of Sarah Palin and the
tea party, and view the Obama administration as the best defence against the
threat of "fascism". Pity that the mid-term results, as well as the heightened
clamour within the DP about the administration's further embrace of the rich
and powerful in the matter of the Bush tax cuts, the deficit commission, and
the federal employee pay freeze, haven't dented your perspective.
