If Mubarak resigns, have the protesters won? All this sacrifice and protest wasn't simply about the fate of one man. The Egyptian government - and its Western backers - must be judged according to four demands: ending arbitrary detentions, ending the state of emergency, guaranteeing electoral competition, and restoring judicial supervision of elections.
