During a screening of the luminous new Turkish film called “Honey”
(Bal) whose main character is a young boy with a stuttering
problem, I said to myself: Unrepentant Marxist, why don’t you
review “The King’s Speech” while you are at it. So, here goes. I
doubt that two films could be more unalike, but the inclusion of
central characters who stutter screams out for a comparative study
approach. Frankly, as I start this review I have no idea how I can
connect the two films apart from the speech defect angle, but
maybe I’ll have something figured out by the end!
