Not to get too metaphysical, but what is the government of Libya? Was there a credible election in which Gaddafi was the victor? Was Gaddafi annointed by the Pope? What is the government of those parts of Libya that Gaddafi does not currently control? Is there even a meaningful Libyan army, or is there simply a mercenary force hired by Gaddafi? It is at moments like this my libertarian radical side manifests itself and I have a hard time distinguishing the legitimacy of Gaddafi's rule from the rule of New Jersey by Tony Soprano.
