Look, to be absolutely frank, give up on the dinosaur and find a more recent
version or a new piece of software.  You will perpetually have problems and
they will increase with newer operating systems until the point where they
will no longer be able to run any MS-DOS software. Right now, I suspect it
is marginal on Windows 7 and that may be (assuming you are running 7) part
of your problem.

I am still wrestling with my computer.  My most recent question
revolves around the DOS prompt that I use to run my 35 year old
outlining program.  It works fine if I use it with a full screen, but
when I open it as a window, the DOS graphics do not work.  Most of
this will find this to be gobbly-gook, but any answers will be very
important for me.
