So, Gary Becker charges $5,000 an hour to dispense his wisdom via Skype. Why
would anyone igh his or her right mind pay an 81 year old dickhead like Becker
this kind of money? To tell them what? Don't worry about your "tastes for
discrimination," competitive markets will make them ineffective anyway. Or
don't fret over the gap between black and white wages, incomes, wealth,
unemployment rates, etc. Whatever part the markets can't eliminate is due to
genetics. I read Becker's first book, teh one on discrimination in 1967 or 68.
God, the time I had to waste on it. Pretty thin gruel really. The capitalists
were the losers when they discriminate. Unions are villains. Then he turned to
crime, marriage, you name it. Shined that neoclassical laser beam on everthing
humans do. It explains everything. And he is considered a great mind in the
"science" of economics. Stop me before I throw up.
And Michael, it is bad enough you defend Brad DeLong!! Don't say anything nice
about Becker!!!
