where is it in Marx's CAPITAL that he discusses Ricardo's theory of "gains from trade" and dismisses it as tautological and/or empty? He may not mention Ricardo by name.
all I can find is a discussion in chapter 5 of volume 1, where he says that: With reference, therefore, to use-value, there is good ground for saying that “ex-change is a transaction by which both sides gain.” It is otherwise with exchange-value. here, he's _agreeing_ with Ricardo. -- Jim Devine / "Segui il tuo corso, e lascia dir le genti."
