In the second portion of the video at a house meeting, which is about fair taxation, Warren says to the successful factory owner: keep a big hunk of the profits but pay forward because the rest of us paid to give you roads to the factory, educated workers, and police and fire protection.
Fifty years ago that would have been a viable reform worthy of support. The job would be to combine support for progressive taxation with education and organizing of some people to the goal of getting rid of capitalism. Today, substantial reform of the kind Warren demands is not possible. There is no growth path that could entice a substantial fraction of capital to go along because it would create opportunities that they could develop and profit from. Capitalism has arrived at an impassable barrier. No rich, no poor. _______________________________________________ pen-l mailing list [email protected] https://lists.csuchico.edu/mailman/listinfo/pen-l
