Hey, thanks for posting this. I found out some of this
the other day while looking up the ILWU web page for news on
how they were doing...nostalgia from the old days.
Good to hear they are still battling it out.
For those who don't know, when SF docks were closing and
as shipping moved to the giant machine cranes, trucking
and rail hub, the ILWU had to fight a big battle with the Port of Oakland and
get control of operating these `new' crane systems. They won as far as I know.
