I was at the October 6 antiwar rally in Freedom Plaza Washington DC today.
There were plenty of cops although they stayed out of sight. There were several
thousand people. David Rovic sang , speeches etc. I got in a two hour jam with
a couple of young hobos and a couple of old fiddlers and banjo picker. There
was an organizers' bossiness to the event that was off-putting and it so far
does not have the kind of brisk intention I usually witness in San Francisco or
Sacramento. Most attendees I spoke with however are sure the crowds will swell
over the coming weeks. Big presence of Veterans for Peace and other vet groups.
It took more than an hour to find a two-hour parking space. Plenty of media but
whether the footage makes it past the front office is doubtful--no blood.

I should be in New York later today to be the guy with the banjo-uke on Wall
Street.
