Ha, a monument to secular power. Yale and Harvard both got a big gift during 
the Depression from the Harkness family. They took advantage of low wages and 
plentiful labor to splurge - Yale to build the gothic colleges, Harvard to 
build its New England-y houses. At Yale, something like an entire village of 
Italian artisans was imported to do the friezes and stained-glass windows.
