The union folks were supposed to have a huge rally outside of downtown Seattle
during the WTO, but when the cops started shooting rubber bullets into the
crowds union members stopped short on their walk to the rally venue and turned
around to go back downtown where the action was. I was in their midst; two blue
satin jacketed members of the Steam and Pipefitters Union were walking and
talking behind me. I heard one say, "Thomas Jefferson said to err on the side
of revolution."
