I found Backhouse and Bateman's book on Keynes *Capitalist Revolutionary*to be a quick and pleasant read. They are both economists, but they are critiquing a view of social life in which only utility-maximizing agents act to bring about equilibrium. They want to move beyond thinking based on rational or representative agents. Good quick read.
