2012: Let’s Get it Done

Dear Friend,

2012 will be a watershed year in the history of our country.

And it’s not simply because it’s an election year.

In the coming weeks and months, our elected officials are going to
have to decide if they are going to take meaningful action to address
our long-term debt crisis, our stagnant economy and chronically high
unemployment.

They’re going to have to decide if they want to tap more of our
homegrown energy resources, unshackle our employers from a tidal wave
of regulations and protect our job creators from a National Labor
Relations Board run amok.

As ABC News reports, the margin for error is small, and “a bad
decision by Congress or the president might be enough to cause the
economy to stall.”

And that’s why the upcoming elections — especially the race for the
Senate — is so important. According to US News & World Report, the
potential for major change is possible:

…The fight for control of the Senate is heating up and could be
equally as intense as the campaign for the White House.

...Experts say they face an uphill climb to keep their hold in 2012.
According to a recent Gallup survey, about three-quarters of
registered voters think most members of Congress do not deserve to be
re-elected.
There’s a lot at stake this year and we’re working harder than ever to
pass legislation that will create jobs and hold elected official
accountable when they refuse to do so.

The U.S. Chamber has already launched our political program, which we
expect to be the largest and most successful in our 100 year history.

Thanks to the support of great Americans, like you, across the
country, we also have one of the strongest grassroots [!] programs in
the country.

We’re making a difference — and we need you to make our team even stronger.

Tell us what issues you care about and we’ll send breaking news and
action alerts when they happen.

The Friends of the U.S. Chamber grassroots network, now more than 7
million strong, is working to ensure Washington knows where you stand.
Together, our collective voice is impossible to ignore.

We can’t afford to lose this battle. 2012 is the year we bring
America back. [like these folks haven't been getting what they wanted
since 1979?]

Sincerely,

Rob Engstrom
Senior Vice President and National Political Director
U.S. Chamber of Commerce
