A couple of points about Professor Coatsworth. He'll soon be 72. Columbia's nod
to youth I take it. He has served on what Laurence Shoup calls the imperial
brain trust, the Council on Foreign Relations. He was a founding member of the
David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies. Head of Columbia's School
of International and Public Affairs. Not to put too fine a point on it, but
this doesn't sound like a leftist to me, unless SIPA and CFR have morphed into
training grounds for erstwhile revolutionaries. Maybe on Fox News. To
paraphrase what that fellow said to Dan Quayle, "you're no David Montgomery."
