Study: More Conservatives Than Ever Distrust Science | Just 35 percent
of self-identified conservatives said they had a “great deal of trust
in science” in 2010, a new report published in the journal American
Sociological Review reveals. The finding marks a 28 percent decline
since the first survey taken in 1974, “when 48 percent of
conservatives—about the same percentage as liberals—trusted science.”
According to the report, support for science has remained relatively
flat amongst liberals and moderates.

Because other than the automobile, antibiotics, the internet, air
conditioning, and electronic bank transfers, WHAT HAS SCIENCE EVER
GOTTEN RIGHT?

"Study: More Conservatives Than Ever Distrust Science".

I suppose that's fair. More Scientists Than Ever Distrust
Conservatives, Too.

Hmm, well it goes to the whole idea of "conserving" something,
doesn't it? If you are looking to conserve a tradition, why would the
conservative want to fudge it up with new information that may
question the basis if not out right truth of the tradition? As I
understand it, this requires a repudiation of anything that does not
agree with one's personal worldview, ie, self-delusion is necessary
for the "truth" to remain the tradition.

Science is scary. It involves facts that are related to reality.

"I don't trust science." I'm not sure what that even means.
Physics is some kind of trick? Biology comes from Satan? Do these
people trust in aerodynamics enough to get into an airplane?

I'm sorry but aero-whatics? We all know it's Jesus that keeps
planes in the air!:

Samuel Muir I don't know, it's either aerodynamics or
aeronautics. Obviously, I'm no scientist. You can trust me!

I think we're both wrong, at least in the usage of the terms
but I think people get what we meant.

        http://virtualskies.arc.nasa.gov/aeronautics/1.html
Aeronautics is typically defined as the art or science of
flight, or the science of operating aircraft. This includes a branch
of aeronautics called aerodynamics. Aerodynamics deals with the motion
of air and the way it interacts with objects in motion, such as an
aircraft. Both of these branches are a part of the tree of physical
science. Aviation, however, refers to the operation of
heavier-than-air craft.

Conservatives think with their wallet. They think science, in some
way, will cost them something.

Like Colbert said, reality has a well-known liberal bias; we know
how they feel about anything liberal!
