Not all American movies are crap. In the last ten years there were some good
ones:

"American Beauty"
"Brokeback Mountain"
"Revolutionary Road"
"Shame"
"Little Miss Sunshine"

I found a link through the above that had all of The Return on it
1/11-11/11.

Another wow movie. You really begin to see how emotionally dishonest and
censored US films have become, probably always were.

The Return has a strong element of mystery that stays and is never really
resolved. It just ends. And in the long closing scenes, you get the feeling
that none of it happened. In a sense the movie erases itself.

I kept on hoping it would turn out okay. The story line is simple. After
twelve years a missing father returns to a family made up of his wife, her
mother, and two young teenage boys. After a day or so, the father decides to
take a trip with the boys to go fishing. At some point it is unclear why and
there are hints that the fishing is a pretext for some other reason. He
never explains why he was gone or why he came back.

It's probably a movie you have to see several times to figure out, because
the clues are all retroactive, thinking back on some unexplained scene or
circumstance.
