Pen-Lers,

Here's a peek at one response to the current banksterism in my neighborhood.

Dan Scanlan

Dear Friends:

I am helping to promote  "Public Banking" work groups, my small gesture to "be of help."
The mission is to establish a public bank in each state, county or town,
a bank which is owned by the local taxpayers, not by the huge banking corporations which have created our current financial disaster.
They differ from Savings and Loans in that they are owned by the citizenry as a whole, not only by depositors.
These banks would be able to buy up foreclosures, refinance them, keep the owners in their homes.
They would reinvest their profits in local community development rather than enrich the owners of Wells Fargo, B of A, and the like.
If this has caught your interest look on Google and Wikipedia for "North Dakota State Bank",  an impressive 100 year old model of how
to keep an entire state solvent, and in fact prosperous.

We ARE our brother's keepers. And it's in our own best interest. Look at the statistics below
These auctions are devastating our neighbors, our communities and our nation as a whole.
Watch the classic movie: "Grapes of Wrath."
We have seen that Washington has not only failed to be of help, it has funneled huge amounts of money
to the very banks that have created the problem. It is up to WE THE PEOPLE to take matters into our own hands. Not by armed revolution,
not by illusory hopes of putting the lesser of two evils in The White House,
but by intelligent grass roots endeavors to reclaim control of our democracy - of the people, by the people and for the people.
Find your local "public banking group." Join them, Learn! Support them.  If there isn't one, gather five friends and form one.

=====================================================

Foreclosure Auctions Scheduled for June 2012 (from ForeclosureRadar):

California auctions:  55,037 – 2,752 per day
Arizona auctions:  12,726 – 636 per day
Nevada auctions:  2,481 – 124 per day
Oregon auctions:  1,783 – 89 per day
Washington auctions:  2,431 – 121 per day

Total auctions for the rest of June, 2012:  74,458 - 3,722 per day (just in these 5 states)

All these families are super-stressed, devastated, lost all their cash down payments, forced into renting for 3 years, ruined.
50% of loans in the “foreclosure pipeline” are conventional loans by the middle class.  Forget “deadbeats”.  This is us.

Is it any wonder our nation is filled with malaise?

Home sale prices are now BELOW CONSTRUCTION COSTS.
This downturn has bankrupted the construction industry Therein lies much of our unemployment

We must stop foreclosures, force banks to modify loans, stabilize our economy.

PLEASE HELP sway public awareness and opinion any and every way you can.

We, the People, appreciate your help.

Thanks,  cj
