This NYT fact check needs a fact check, or at least a copy edit by someone

"The drop in military budgets as a share of G.D.P. is due less to any
reductions for the Pentagon and more to the fact that a growing piece of
the federal budget pie is being consumed by spending for entitlement
programs like Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security as more baby-boomers
reach retirement age."

Not only that, the editors' are lying--maybe I should say that they are
slanting their information to fit the conservative agenda to trash social
spending and replace it with private enterprise. Social Security, here in the
NYT editor-speak, appears as something which the ruling class can't afford
anymore, causing deficits and so on. Actually, the working class has paid more
than enough in surplus value for the paltry sum which it gets it gets back in
retirement. Also, the big problem for Medicare and Medicaid is the capitalist
system itself i.e. private, for profit healthcare which is WAY more pricey than
government provided healthcare in other industrialised political States.
