I think this is a scam by the publishers. The cost to students is lower compared to new copies of the book, BUT students cannot resell these editions. Even local bookstores where the instructor re-uses it will not re-buy the book. The publishers offer these "custom" books as a way minimize sales of used copies. I say don't use them.
