I have an analysis of a phrase that appeared in Barack Obama's victory speech last night and that reprises, in almost identical words, a theme he also highlighted in his 2009 inaugural address and his August 28, 2008 acceptance speech for the Democratic Party nomination. I contextualize the phrase as part of an encomium to Dr. Martin Luther King's "I Have A Dream" speech to the Washington March for Jobs and Freedom, which occurred on August 28, 1963 -- 45 years to the day before Obama's acceptance speech.
