I generally agree with the general tenor of the argument but if capitalism is seen as a system with systemic dynamics then it's expansionary dimension must be accounted for as in China, India or Brazil. In fact what Krugman etc are saying is that capitalism is in crisis in the 'advanced capitalist countries' but capitalism is a global system, it is increasingly dispersed, and no longer the monopoly of creating wealth and income is confined to the ACCs, there has been considerable geographic decoupling. For all its catharsis the system's ability to 'generate' wealth is almost unceasing. But yes, unemployment, underemployment, mass misery, etc. don't seem to go away either.
