Patrick's piece reminds me of those Trotskyist groups whose newspapers used to have a banner headline on page 1 "exposing" other Trotskyist groups as infiltrated by the FBI. If you read Robin's "recent articles as historical curiosities," why a whole article denouncing him?
Oh noooo, comrade Robin's brain has been infiltrated by a neo-classical economic virus! Nah, he's a great guy who debates frequently and passionately. This goes back to us bickering at a SF meeting of the Int'l Forum on Globalization followed by a ZNet debate in 2010.
And this piece is not 'a whole article', it's a 'commentary' in /CNS /much smaller than is required, given the journal's space constraints. So wait until you see Gar's brilliant critique of Robin's economic mistakes!
But Bob, this is what we academics do: comment on each other's work. It happens to be the single most important issue of the century, and before policy gets cemented, promoting as much debate as possible is surely a good thing? Especially if the policy chosen by the 1% banksters and their political cronies in Brussels and Washington starts us down a false-solutions path difficult to U-turn later?
And next Tuesday a world network of progressives will launch a campaign to shut down European Union carbon trading. Stay tuned.
While you're at it, how does http://www.storyofcapandtrade.org hold up about 3 years later? We need to update or relaunch it in the event Obama tries some tricky new national legislation.
Cheers, Patrick
