Always a pleasure to watch and listen to Richard Wolff. The section on
economics v. business was great. Two wings on the economy, one in LA-LA-LAND
and one How To Department. What's fascinating to me is that when I finally went
through Capital I and part of II, I recognized Marx's world just from working
for a living.

The tail of the program made me fall off my chair. 2.13/hr! Even the hedge of
cash & tip of 7.25/hr is ridiculous. California is no big spender either at
8.00/hr. That's 64 bucks a day. You can make that or better with a beat to shit
truck hauling cardboard, mixed paper, glass/plastic, and aluminum.

In Berkeley the rates are 0.10/lb aluminum, 0.05/lb, 100.00/ton newspaper and
mixed paper. That's why our recycle containers are always empty on pick-up day.

Here is the minimum wage break down:

Berkeley has a living wage ordinance with a current rate 13.03 with health
insurance plan, 15.20/hr without. But and its a big but, that only applies to
business with a contractual relationship to the city.
