NYT's Romero is on the record saying that what tipped his attitude on Chávez and made him hostile to the Bolivarian revolution was that he (Romero) saw him (Chávez) having too much fun with Oliver Stone and Sean Penn on the official presidential airplane. People of poor origins, “populist leaders" (let alone revolutionaries) are not supposed to enjoy things, but just be stoic and suffer. Only the rich are allowed to enjoy the goodies of high life. That is the kind of petty prejudice package that helps you climb the lower steps of the NYT's corporate ladder.
