I see nothing wrong with making policy recommendations as long as you know the limitations of such efforts. Universal health care (e.g., Medicare for All) is a good thing in a lot of ways compared to our current system -- and in fact is likely good for the health of U.S. capitalism (perhaps legitimating the system). The fact that this proposal is currently off the table reveals a lot about U.S. politics. Also, it's better to demand something (e.g., higher wages) than to simply sit on the sidelines. You're more likely to get higher wages if you demand them than if you don't.
