no-one ever got rich from saving during working years. A
back-of-the-envelope (or back-of-the-spreadsheet) calculation says
that if you save 10% of income every year for 45 years (and earn 5%)
interest, your nest egg consists of about 5 years of your income.
(Both 5% and 10% are generous.)

ideally, we should get rid of lotteries ASAP. They're taxes on the
desperate or uneducated.
