The juxtaposition of the DeLong piece posted by Julio and the one by Louis is a fortuitous gift.
On the one hand, global warming,, on the other, global depression. What to do? On the macro side there is DeLong's stimulous. The alternative macro, or the one considered worthy of ink, is liquidate and austerity, until the market straightens thinks out. Both terrible. There is another way, bringing both climate justice and economic justice: Sharply cut working hours, promptly. Cutting the consumption of the rich, North and South must happen to avert climate catastrophe, and cutting working hours is a step toward doing that. That won't be enough, in the longer term -- we'll still need to find a way beyond the market to share.
