As a side thought, I learned from an ex-Israeli work mate, that Iran at one time had the largest Jewish population outside Europe (US). I have no idea if that's true. This guy's family was from Iran. His family left because of the Shah. (This was before the Iranian Revolution.) Etan was something of a character, so who knows. It might be worth looking into. This path follows a general kind of discrimination for Middle Eastern orgins and not specifically Arab.
