Ordinarily, I would qualify this by saying that Yoshie crossposted an
article written by some Iranian and that this reflects her own POV
rather than that of Monthly Review. But as long as Mage and
Foster-Bellamy keep her on staff, I can only assume that they endorse
her bullshit.

The article makes a number of useful points about the neoliberal
direction taken by the "moderate" government but includes this most
revealing observation:

"Fariborz Raisdana, a prominent Iranian Marxist economist who criticized
government-subsidy cuts1 by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's administration and
spent one year behind bars, specifies that 90 percent of imports, 25
percent of exports, and 48 percent of investments are by the private
sector."

So where in fuck's name has the most prestigious Marxist journal in the
USA been on Iran when the only thing coming out in its name has been the
shameless drivel promoting Ahmadinejad by Yoshie both on MRZine and on
Marxmail, LBO-Talk, and PEN-L--taken together, the highest profile
radical listservs on the Internet? Where was MR when Ahmadinejad was
CUTTING SUBSIDIES TO WORKERS? ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL?

Monthly Review only decides to publish an article by an Iranian Marxist
once it becomes obvious that the government intends to do the safety net
what Obama has been doing here. Was Yoshie too distracted to ferret out
other Marxist analyses of Iran for the past 10 years? What is she being
paid for?
