"Robert Naiman" <[email protected]> This is interesting to me because 1) the Humane Society is a huge organization with people everywhere in the U.S. and 2) they are hardliners on protecting the power of the people to democratically regulate capitalism, especially the conditions under which commodities are produced. That's why they're "good on trade," and hate the WTO and NAFTA as much as they should. If you think you have a right to know whether the workers who made the jeans you're wearing had bathroom breaks, if you think you have a right to know how old the kids were who picked the lettuce you're eating, their fight is your fight. So it would be a very good thing for humanity in general if the Humane Society wins this fight.
If the Humane Society wants to maintain the health of farm animals then they can expect my support. In Washington State, Initiative 522 would have required labeling of GMO food, but big business was able to defeat the initiative. Do you think that a state should be able to ban Kosher meat sales? -- Ron
